How do you find Allergy Relief?
It seems as though people can develop or be born with multiple allergies to anything these days. It could be dust, pet dander, or even a food allergy that triggers an attack. If you can avoid what triggers your allergy symptoms entirely then you are lucky. All you have to do is avoid your suspected allergen and you are all set. For many, it is not so simple.
Symptoms can be combated with over-the-counter allergy relief products or prescription medications, but the best way to find relief from allergy attack is to avoid the allergen in the first place. It may take some extra effort to avoid your allergy trigger, but it will be well worth it in the long run. Going through life suffering from allergy symptoms is no way to live, especially if you can avoid the suffering with a little forethought.
Do you always come into contact with the source of your allergy in certain places? Does it take a certain amount to trigger an attack or are you extremely sensitive to the smallest allergy stimulus? Knowing the ins and outs of your own allergy will help you decide how to find allergy relief. Each sufferer’s allergy symptoms and triggers are different so get to know your own. A little self-discovery may be all that stands between you and allergy relief.
When All You Can Think Of Is Allergy Relief
When you are in the midst of an allergy attack, all you can think about is relief. There are many ways to get relief ranging from medical compounds to natural allergy remedies including herbal compounds and even acupuncture. The first place to start is to try and remove or reduce the source of the problem. In the home this can involve a period of allergen testing to find exactly what you are allergic to. Unless you have had tests performed by an allergy specialist to determine exactly the allergen you have an allergic reaction to, this method will be trial and error.
For most of us relief comes from allergy treatments purchased over the counter at the pharmacy. There are many products that are on the market today that offer excellent results for allergy sufferers. Non drowsy formulations are available that let you get on with your life without the desire to nap. Also available are one a day type products which you don't have to take several times daily. Generic medicines are another fact of life and many of these products contain the same active ingredients as higher priced brand names. Your allergy doctors should be able to recommend a less expensive generic version and you can also consult your pharmacist for advice on the right product for you.
You don't have to always wait for a reaction to happen before you take any action, be proactive in the fight against allergies. If you know ahead of time you are going to be exposed to an allergen that gives a reaction, some medications can be taken before you are exposed. For example if you are to visit a friend who has a cat and you are allergic to cat dander, take the antihistamine about an hour or two before and this allows it to be circulating in your system in advance of your exposure and can reduce or eliminate the resulting reaction. Some antihistamines need to build up in your body to be most effective, so always read the medications package insert and follow the directions carefully.
As allergy sufferers we sometimes forget that a reaction can take some time to work its way out of our bodies. You must not forget to take your allergy relief products on a regular basis as you could well break out in an allergic rash again or suffer the symptoms your particular allergy. So in your search for relief you must be diligent about taking a medication in order to get the kind of relief you want.
